A little about me.

Welcome to Amble and Roam
I’m so happy that you are here.
My name is Morgan. My home base is the Nashville suburbs, though I have lived all over the Southeast. By education I am a veterinarian. I practiced small animal medicine for about 15 years before stepping back to take some time for myself and my family – my husband and our two kids (currently 12 and 14).
At home, I’m a collector of hobbies, from beekeeping and knitting to whatever my kids are currently obsessed with (which presently makes me a disc golf caddy and a full time dance chauffeur). But my absolute favorite pursuit is traveling with our family and friends.
While I am newly embarking on travel advising with Fora and blogging about our adventures, I’ve spent years consumed by the art of organizing memorable family journeys. While we did our fair share of simple beach trips when the kids were little, our travel has evolved into overseas adventures and exploring diverse landscapes across the US.
I chose Substack and this website as the primary home for my writing because I want to contribute to travel writing and advising in a responsible, thoughtful way. You can still find me on instagram but here is where the real depth, details , and stories live.
What you won’t find here:
- Short-form click bait
- Destinations chosen strictly for the social media photo
- Exhausting, packed itineraries heavy on rushed sight-seeing
- Extreme, high risk “Off the Beaten Path” survival travel
What you will find here:
- Relaxed and intentional plans: Travel that leaves room for sleeping in, slow mornings, and coffee stops
- Ease for everyday families: Practical advice for navigating new places in real time
- Considerate travel: Destinations and plans that respect local communities, native wildlife, and the environment
- Real answers: Practical details I wish I’d had when planning my own trips
- Thoughtful Travel Advising: Dedicated support for families who want personalized planning and logistics help.
Our Travel Style
Our family pace is slow and intentional. For us, the perfect trip is a balance of fun for the kids, museums and landmarks that offer a little education, time spent outside discovering a new park or trail, and finding great food that everyone can enjoy. We tend to avoid overly congested tourist traps when we can, though we aren’t above a theme park or a major historical site when it is genuinely worth it. More than anything, I hope that with each new destination, our kids are quietly learning to appreciate, respect, and embrace the people, cultures, and places that make each corner of our beautiful world unique.
What’s Coming Next
My Amble and Roam website will be a companion to my Substack profile, offering a place to find simplified itineraries, practical travel tips, and a curated collection of trusted travel products and recommendations.
While the website is designed to be an easy-to-browse resource for planning your own travels, my Substack is where I share longer form travel notes, personal trip stories, and more detailed destination inspiration. Together, they’re two sides of Amble and Roam: practical resources to help you plan, and personal stories to inspire where you go next.
Let’s Work Together
If you would like a little help with your own travel plans, I’d love to connect. I can do as much or as little as you need – from helping you find the right destination and accommodations to crafting a thoughtful itinerary from start to finish. Best of all, my booking and advising services come at no additional cost to you. Travel is a luxury, but together, we can create a trip that feels just right for you and your family, with plenty of room left to slow down, wander and simply Amble and Roam.
